I want to tell you how to join the top 1% in making winning ads, by using the magic of humour. I tried to nail this a thousand times before getting it right.

Funny doesn’t usually sell, but when it does, you’ll be REMEMBERED.

Warning ⚠️ I generally caution against this technique as it can complicate things, so tread carefully…

Why It’s Such A Fine Art

…When done right, making your audience laugh a little, whilst looking at your ad, creates an experience, like being at a movie or watching someone trip over a cat. 😹

Ads that can make you smile a little, also make you put your guard down a little too, and that smile does some weird chemistry in our brains, locking in the memory.Let me show you an example….

Ahem...

“Why did the marketer break up with her boyfriend?

.

.

Because there was a lack of engagement”

pause for laughter

That was funny, right?

Obviously it was, but, here’s the PROBLEM:

  • Do you remember me, my name, my brand?

  • Do you remember what I was trying to sell to you?

  • “No” & “no”; you'll just remember a joke about engagement.

Unlike reading this article, you can’t just replay an advert to understand it better. When was the last time you re-watched a YouTube ad?

Probably never, you were just tapping the SKIP button as quickly as you could as soon as 5 seconds was up!

And your audience does that too...

What Went Wrong?

You’re not alone in this, 99 out of every 100 business owners, and professional marketers will get this wrong!

Actually, I think 100 out of every 100 currently get it wrong. And some sort of FORBIDDEN magic known only by the electrician on my street gets it right…but I’ll tell you more about Brian in a bit…🐿️

Yes, my joke about the engagement was REALLY funny.

But you just remember it being funny and don’t remember the service that was being advertised to you.

Ask yourself “Am I able to pull this off”...

The Magic To Get Into The Top 1%

Remember we talked about Brian? 🐿️

I’m going to share the magic about Brian...

To get this to work, you need to own the role, the ad, and the content. Take a moment to look at this:

An example of a funny advertisement from TH Results Marketing

Brian absolutely nailed this, because he knows that you have to:

  • Be confident in your ad

  • Do a great job with great quality

  • Make it effortless

  • Make it fast-paced

  • Keep it in the theme of your service

Selling with humour SOFTENS your audience, but you have to put some effort in to get it right.

What worked about Brian’s ad?

You remember the squirrel, right? — “Yes, the funniest thing I’ve seen all day”

Getting electrocuted? — “Yes, he was jumping in the air!”

And what was the squirrel's name? — “Brian” 🤣

This ad didn’t need any dirty humour, just a funny animal.

It didn’t need to be expensive or over-the-top, just a little bit exaggerated.

It just needed to make your audience smile a little and remember YOUR business.

Creating side-splitting content in blogs on your website is a great way to attract more clients, and build memory and laughter into your brand.

We can help you to define your perfect audience, and give you a head start on how to write engaging and trustworthy content.
